Dear Friends from Other Schools,
I am Benjamin Goh from HwaChong Institution, representing a group of students from Nanyang Girls' High School, Hwa Chong Institution (High School Section), Raffles Institution, Catholic High School, Singapore Chinese Girls' School and Sin Ming Secondary School embarking on a social entrepreneurship project under YMCA-Citibank's Youth For Causes.
Youth For Causes involves many schools from all over Singapore. Youth For Causes is a large scale project aimed at youths to work with Volunteer Welfare Organisations (VWOs) to raise funds for a good cause. This year, our team, called Little Voices, aims to raise $50,000 for the Children's Cancer Foundation. The Children’s Cancer Foundation started in 1996 as an integrated hospital-home-community for children and youths with cancer and their families, providing support through the different stages of the illness and recovery. CCF’s mission is to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families through enhancing their emotional, social and medical well-being. CCF helps more than 100 families each year, and to do so, require 3 million dollars annually. Our group aims to raise $50,000 to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Foundation, through a series of street sales (both in public and in schools), as well as through an exhibition about childhood cancer to raise awareness.
We earnestly request your assistance to help to promote and participate in our project as well as sell the following products to help raise funds:
1. Cotton candy
- Both members will be trained to operate the cotton candy machine by professionals
- We will be selling one stick of cotton candy at $2 per stick
2. Ice lollies
- Our group will be providing ice coolers to ensure that the ice lollies do not melt
- Each ice lolly will be sold at $1
3. Fruits (apples and oranges)
- In accordance with the theme of 'Healthy LIving', our team will be selling apples and oranges
- They will be tagged with the messages "An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Thank you for supporting the Children's Cancer Foundation!" for the apples and "Bald is beautiful. Thank you for supporting the Children's Cancer Foundation!" for the oranges
4. Merchandise from the Children Cancer Foundation
- They will be priced according to the prices listed by the Foundation
5. T-shirts
- They will contain inspirational messages about cancer in children. For example: Somedays there won't be a song in your heart. Sing anyway.
We sincerely hope you will accede to our request.
Thank you, and we hope to hear from you soon.
Yours Faithfully,
Benjamin Goh Wei Hao
